Director’s Statement
Hello Beautiful is a multi layered tale of courage, friendship and love set against the backdrop of the tragic events that the character endures. It embraces and evokes the beauty and ugliness within the complex world of illness, despair, and the strength to go on for those we love. It bursts into a world filled with emotional and visual chaos to remain decent in the face of darkness.
Structurally, the form resembles a terrifying roller coaster ride that begins at the top and seems to have a bottomless drop before it starts rising up again. In specific, the story centers around Willow Adair who has a picture-perfect life―or so it seems. A stunning model-turned-wife-and-mother, she lives in a beautiful home with her husband and two kids in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods. On the outside, she has everything. On the inside, she struggles with issues of self-worth. Willow never feels she is good enough. She fears everyone she loves will leave.
Piece by piece, the cornerstones of Willow’s life begins to crumble. At the height of her career, Willow is diagnosed with breast cancer. Hello Beautiful is the story of a woman who peels away the layers to find her inner warrior, a woman who faces insurmountable odds and learns to treasure the gift of self worth and unconditional love.
Weaved entirely from true experiences, it reveals the complexity of human nature and the awesome powers of ones determination. In its building blocks, each scene encompasses something painfully magnificent; tantalizing mixture of passion and commitment, broken hearts and reunions, gracefulness and pain, to reveal the remarkable strength of the human spirit.
Ultimately, the story can be summed up by this statement: It is not how hard and how many times you get knocked down but the grace with which you keep getting up.
